Josefine Harmer (b. 1999) is an austrian artist whose work oscillates between sculpture, photography, video and installation.

Educationally trained in the field of stage design and architecture she first studied at the UdK Berlin and the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. After working with artist and architect Hans-Walter Mueller in Paris her own practice naturally evolved towards the arts. She currently lives and works in Vienna, where she continues her studies in the Sculpture and Space Class led by Hans Schabus at the Angewandte.

Her interest lies in the ideological occupation of the human body and its material staging within cultural and historical contexts. A recurring motif in her practice is the translation of mythological and archetypal echoes into newly constructed images that dissect the tension between fear and devotion and the anatomy of desire. These images, lost in time yet alive through their speculative habit, become cultural fault lines where collective memory and prophecy meet.
